Kroger sucks
Permalink

I worked at kroger for 6 months. Then I got a brain and realized they were either overworking me for way too little pay or I literally had nothing to do but stand there and be bored out of my mind. If any of you people are smart you'll quit while you can. Kroger stinks. If you condition, your managers will never be satisfied with it. You could work your butt off all night and it wouldn't be good enough. They are all greedy. It's a crappy job for crappy pay and if you've been working there longer than three years either you've gone braindead by now or your just plain crazy. But most of all I disliked the employees. All stupid mindless zombies. There was never anyone there worth talking to. And the employee always treat you like crap. Nobody likes shopping so they take it out on you. Basically, if your working in a grocery store for the rest of your life or you plan to your living a very sad and pathetic life.

What is pathetic is your poor grammar. Maybe you should work on that before you work on finding a more sophisticated job. ;)

being 19 years old and a college student this is the best job for me as of now until i get my degree. yea there are lots of times i get sick of it and frustrated because i dont agree with a lot of the decisions but to be sick of it that much after 6 months is pathetic and seems lazy to me. i am a file clerk and work in non foods and work as hard as i can everyday not because i like it but because im not lazy, i know its not my career, and i make great money for my age, more than any of my friends. so for anyone to say to just do as little as possible is really sad and im surprised you werent fired before you quit. its actually people like you that makes the job frustrating because people like me have to cover you and clean up after you

I work for littman jeweler who they bought about twele years ago. Yes I have to agree they suck. We have scripts we have to use to wait on every customer like a robot. I have twenty total years hate to give it up, but I have to. I can no take it anymore. The quality of the merchandise is the worst in the industry. Try selling that even as a robot. Plus the unending pushing of credit can't they see what that did for zale?

I've worked for kroger for four years.  Theres nothing wrong with it.  Are there better jobs in the industry? Sure.  But depending on the people you work with, it can be pretty fun.  I've literally done everything in my store and I love it.  Career? No, but it'll do.

Kroger is ok, for the most part. I like everyone that I am working with. I like the job as well. What I don't like is the new requirements that they have place on us (possibly because of the recession), and the electronic monitoring of everything we do. I'm not talking about risk management type of monitoring (such as checking what we override, or scan), but monitoring how fast we do our jobs... seriously? As long as the customer is satisfied and happy, and the job gets done on time, who cares how fast it took the employee to do it? Trying to micromanage everything from the very top always ends up badly for the company.

I'm an employee in Ohio.  When I started at this store three years ago we had 8 employees stocking at night time.  We now have 3.  It is impossible to do the same ammount we used to with this few of employees.  Then each morning I get the treat of being yelled at for holes on shelves that would be filled if ELMS gave us more hours.  To top it all off, today it was announced that thirty-five more hours would be removed from my shift.  That's two people remaining! There used to be eight!  I wish the public knew how many employees are losing their jobs in these tough economic times, while people in upper management are getting six figure raises.  Their salary is already enough to pay our whole store for a year.

If youir going off to college keep your mouth shut. You have no say so in this discussion. In a few years you will be making more in one year than most grocery employees will make in 5 years... who cares that you have to bag groceries, the only reason you enjoy your job is because you know you wont have to do it for long. Some people have to do this for a living because we cant all afford to get a college education an no one wants to start you off at anything but minimum wage if you quit. The last time I checked this country was being run by college graduates, Maybe thats the problem.......

Most grocery employees make 13 to 17 thousand a year. lets see 5 times 17000 equals ,,,,,, 85000, if you plan on going to college for 4 years an not making at least 85000 in 5 years, you need to change your major......

I don't know where you're getting your figures, or why you feel that finding a job where you'll start out at $85,000/yr is so easy... But no. You'll make more getting your degree (maybe), but you aren't guaranteed to make 5x what a crocery store employee makes??...

Kroger is a crappy place to work. They not only do not back up employees when they are verbally abused by customers but blame the employee even when the employee is not at fault. This is a terrible place to work. They do not realize that not only do they need customers to stay in business they need loyal employees...unfortunately they do not value their employees

What's with all these salary numbers that are based on entry level grocery positions? A co-manager can make 40K a year + bonuses easily. If you really absolutely love working in a grocery store, store manager can make six figures after bonuses. The only 'stupid' thing to do is work at a job that you don't like at all, and if you don't like working at Kroger, it's smart to leave before you get a nervous breakdown. Your working life won't be short, especially with all of these Social Security concerns, so pick something you enjoy.
