In Kentucky the customer service clerks get the same pay as if they were a cashier. Only the department head and back up gets the big raise. The rest of us just gets contract raise.

That's not enirely true.  I don't know what division you're in but I'm in the Mid South division which includes Louisville.  As of now, customer service clerks start out at $7.30 an hour.  They get a 10 cent raise after 6 months and another 10 cents 6 months later.  Top pay for a customer service clerk is $7.50 an hour.

In Illinois, the customer service clerks make less than $10 an hour if their seniority is low.

A customer service clerk is a bagger.

In the northwest Ohio area we get an extra 15 cents an hour. It almost covers the cost of the tylenol that I have to take to do the job.

Where I work (Mid South division) the people who work at the customer service desk make no more than a regular checker or any other clerk in the store.  The duties of a customer service clerk are as follows:

bag groceries

perform price checks

carry out customer order

assist customer in loading groceries

handle bascarts

stocking nonsalable supplies

performing interior and exterior store cleaning

I think there's some confusion as to what a customer service clerk is.   A customer service clerk IS NOT someone who works in the office.  A customer service clerk is a bagger.  People who work at the customer service desk are still classified as checkers.

I was a bagger but I started out in another department which made me make more than any bagger in my region. I didn't know that 4 1/2 years of bagging, I was there 6 years that I was making more.

I thought they were called "COURTESY clerks" blankstare

People who work at the service desk are called "Service Desk Clerks" or "Front End Clerks" which are both cashiers and service desk clerks.
