Co-Manager Out of Control
Permalink

I am currently going through hell with a recent management change in our store.  Our new co-manager has been going out of her way to purposefullly sabotage our night crew into underperforming.

I process and receive the grocery and peyton trucks and she recently took away the experienced helper I had and replaced him with a brand new employee who hasn't even been trained to stock, much less operate a power jack or straddle-stacker.  Of course this has cost us tons of time and made it nearly impossible for us to finish in time to help our co-workers finish the order.

I was ready to let it go as just one more incompetent management decision until I found out from separate sources that she has told my head night clerk and my grocery manager to "treat me like s*&t" (her exact words according to the head night clerk), in order to coerce me into quitting.

I'm not sure what the policies on this site are regarding disclosing the actual names of the parties involved but I have a feeling this is a common story with this particular manager and the more people who have had the same experience the better.

Has anyone else experienced the same thing?  Particularly a manager purposefully making poor decisions to make it difficult for you to meet your target times.

First: Don't stress
Second: Train the guy they gave you
Third: if they ask what is taking so long tell them "I was training the new guy you gave me." maybe even add a "you can do it instead, if you'd like."
Fourth: rub it in their face when, a month from now, you and the new guy are out preforming everyone.

Start documenting everything she says and does.  When you get enough evidence, take it to your union rep.

Do your work, document your work, take statements from fellow employees (signed), and turn it into the union. If the union doesn't react in a few days call the international union.

What is the international union? I am only aware of our local for problems. I would be interested in hearing more about this.

A bad/stupid manager can ruin the store. We have a manager who is constantly bugging the hell out of everyone when they're trying to work. I'm the type of worker who can work very independently, and doesn't need very much guidance. I understand if there are lazy workers and you need to get on their case, but let me the hell alone for god sake.
