How long does it usually take to get promoted to Market Manager once you are officially trained?

I am completely trained for Market Manager and they keep telling me I will replace the Assistant Market Manager but they keep dragging their feet on moving him up when there are Market Manager positions available in the district. Am I just missing something? They pushed for me to get trained and mad sure it happened quickly. Been at Kroger only a year and half, make 7.45. Did the typical estimated year of training in roughly 4 months. Have been told by all I am ready, but what are they dragging their feet about?

Check your job postings. SO there are *never* any assitant positions posted at other stores? Apply for those, dont wait for the guy in your store to take a manager position, maybe he sucks! Maybe hes never going to. Take matters into your own hands.

Nocturnia: Here's the thing. I had for years been at the level of a Market Assistant for many many years. I was in fact doing the job of the Market Assistant for a long time. He didn't want to do it, but they forced him because he was a Red Circle Service Clerk. It took me having a few drinks with my former market manager and having him brag about me to get me into the new store as an assistant. Its more about who you know and how far you're willing to stick your nose in that crevice to which I am very resistant. Its kinda like how they will take these guys to these "cutting classes" only to never utlize that sklll.

Fishy has solid advice.

I find it hard to believe they would invest that kind of time and money in you just to leave you twisting in the wind. Financially it makes no sense. Sounds like there may indeed be some other issues going on; now's the time for you to take your own initiative.

You should advance, AC. If you want to. It's not for everybody.

That's the kroger way, telling everybody what they want to hear and not the actual truth of the matter.
