I was fired by an employee on the phone for not being able to show up once.. She said she was instructed by her manager to fire me.. I recently received a letter from Kroger saying that I never showed up to work again because I quit... Confused on why they would say that if they actually fired me.

Former manager here. What others have said is true. You can't be fired over the phone, much less by another employee. Only a member of salaried (read: not in the union) management can fire an employee, and it can only be done while on the clock. You are also allowed to have a union representative with you for any disciplinary action (you remember your Weingarten rights, don't you?). You can contact the union and see what you can do, but you are still most likely up **** creek.

It does have to be management and they can't just outright fire you unless you're not past your 45 - 90 day probationary period.
