I'll pass background and drug screen for sure. The assistant manager called and asked if I would be interested in Frozen -OR- Dairy clerk. I said yes. Went in simple interview but he then said Frozen -AND- Dairy clerk. Is that too much for one person? Our Kroger is the only one in town. It serves about five or six counties. It's usually slammed. Should I take this part time job for $8.00 an hour?

Run!  While you still can...biggrin

Take it if you need a job.  Our store has people work in Dairy and frozen but usually on different days.

Starting wage here is $7.35.  The areas are air conditioned during the summer.  Stocking frozen will numb your fingertips.  Most packages look the same so you will have to check bar codes until you get familiar with the products.  Other than that, they are not bad departments to work in.

Good luck with it.

Dairy is one of the better positions at a Kroger store so I'd definitely accept. Frozen is EXTREMELY cold and you will want to buy some gloves to avoid frostbite (they'll provide some ****ty gloves, but they're usually falling apart, reek of rotting milk, and have holes).

Frozen isn't bad if you can handle the cold.  It's not every exciting but easy work.

The key with dairy is to make sure to check for out of dates (expired/expiring things).

Both jobs you're basically working alone and not suffering customers and micromanagement.  As long as you can be focused, you'll be fine.

I've been with the company two years and don't make $8 per hour but ATL division has a horrible contract.

There's a couple guys in my store who work both frozen and dairy so it's not unheard of.

Frozen doesn't seem like that bad of a job to me if you can handle the cold.

Ditto for my division. Here you either make $7.25 or a full blown $15 (DH). Sucks for people who don't want to sell their soul to the store management gods.

I work in diary so i can give you some advice. As others have stated usually its just one person in diary so get use to working on your own majority of the time. Dates are a good thing to pay attention to when putting out stuff. Depending on what you are dealing with you may have to mark it down, or get rid of it if it is past date...(the gun comes handy for both of these). Keep track of your time you can have ALOT of stuff to put out and keep track of when you work. Depending on how fast you work you can easily get lost in spending time on just one pallet of things which means other things will be neglected. As far as gloves they will probably give you a pair but i keep them in my locker as a backup. Go to a lowes and get a pair of gloves you can use for stocking which means they will get dirty and have stuff spilled on them. You might also one want to bring a light jacket/hoodie if you get cold easily.
