Union member voting is Wednesday & Thursday in ATL metro and Thursday in Savannah, GA, & Opelika, AL.

Your stores should have posted where you can vote or you can go to the ufcw1996 site to check.

http://ufcw1996.org

Some stores are letting people carpool on the clock to vote.

Yeah we all need to be striking whenever the opportunity arises in order to get what we need instead of the status quo.

Ours was voting for yesterday.

As I am new to the union, I wasn't sure where to vote or how to vote -- so I didn't.

Guess if the **** hits the fan I have nobody but myself to blame since I abstained.

Sort of like those who didn't vote for Obama's opponent then grumbled about Obama winning.

VOTE NO FOR THE CONTRACT ...THE UNION IS POINTLESS ANYWAY..THEY THINK ITS A GOOD CONTRACT...I GUESS IN A WAY,THEY ARE MORE OR LESS TO BLAME FOR PEOPLE LOOSING SPOUSAL COVERAGE BECAUSE THEY SPENT MILLIONS OF OUR DOLLARS FOR CAMPAIN CONTRIBUTIONS TO BACK OBAMA AND HIS PARTY.THE UNION WANTS YOU TO VOTE YES SO IT'LL GO AHEAD AND PASS SO THEY CAN GIVE THERESELF A RAISE BY UPPING UNION DUES LIKE THEY NORMALLY DO AFTER A CONTRACT PASSES. THEY NO LONGER STAND FORWHAT I OR A BUNCH OF US OTHER KROGER EMPLOYEES STAND FOR OR BELIEVE IN. WE'LL KEEP OUR DUES AND THEY CAN KEEP THERE YES VOTE AND STICK IT!!!!!!

Well yes we willn't get paid if we are on strike by Kroger and Local 1996 doesn't have a strike fund which is a big mistake.But the good and bad news is the National UFCW does have a strike fund but the National needs to approve the strike for us to use there strike fund.So yea we would get paid if National approves the strike but only like 176.00 aweek we would get paid what I have been told and then you will need to be on a picketline to get paid strike pay.If we go on strike I will be doing a part time job till we have a contract .Strikes are hard but if your smart and do other things for money till the strike is over and we can get what we want in  the end, a living wage, insurance plus good retirement benefits.

Part timers only get 176 (if they're lucky) a week anyway. So if anyone really truly cares they would accept the strike pay and fight for whats right.

Sadly, that indicates that the union themselves are accepting Kroger's unfair policies. If part-timers only get $176, and striking members (full or part-time) will only get the same, wouldn't it show that even they, the national union front, won't dare pony up the money full-timers need?

Most often, they're gonna keep it at that level so they can sustain the union executive's pay.

As much as I am against this contract, I'm afraid that unless the current union leadership is changed, Kroger will have their way.

Part timers make $176 a week?

Where the hell are you working? Where can I apply internally?

As a courtesy clerk I'm lucky if my normal hours are reaching 20-22 hours per week.

After taxes and federal and coming up union dues I am going to be lucky to be seeing $100 - $110. Hell I will be surprised if I make more than $90 per week.

Good thing I don't plan to be here the rest of my life.

I said if they're lucky. I make $8.30 an hour and last week with a 28 hour week, got $176. Which under these stupid 28 hour limits, is the maximum i could make in a week.

The Union rep told us that if the contract was turned down that we would be locked out period. In fact, he implied that the Union TOLD Kroger to lock us out.

Is it any wonder that the contract passed with an overwhelming majority???

When a thief puts a gun to your head what do you do? You give him your wallet.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is why most everyone in my store is leaving the Union. Even the Union stewards are leaving the Union.
