I received a call from the manager at our towns kroger & he told me he had a job in the meat department. He went on to say that I wouldn't be cutting any meat but like wrapping stuff. Any clue what this job is? If so, is the job pretty easy?
As far as I know (and someone correct me if it's wrong), you're gonna be some "meat clerk" or what not. You'll probably be stocking the meat department bunkers as well.
Though... I don't know why they said you won't be cutting any meat. You need to portion the stuff too and weigh them, removing/trimming any excess.
Unless they now come in pre-packaged, pre-portioned cuts now.

I've worked most departments, save Drug GM and can honestly say Meat department is the most frustrating. Work load isn't even (you do everything at min. wage while your dept. head does nothing at 3x your pay rate), you constantly get told you aren't doing anything even when you run your ass off and the pay isn't any better than other departments no matter what anyone says. And recently, Kroger is making ALL meat clerks learn to cut at no pay increase. So if minimum wage cutting isn't your thing, I say go for a different department.
