Currently the Kroger I am working at came out with these new store promotion T-shirts that say "Glad you're here" on the front. We have had the shirts for about a month now but they have never been mandatory, I have always worn my regular blue polo. But just today one of my coworkers said they wrote him up for not wearing the promotion shirt no warning or anything, and they told him we have to wear those for now on. That obviously seems unfair and I told him to fight the write up considering they gave no warning. But can they really just ban the blue polo like that?

Hell, it's Kroger, after all. Rules change within the hour. All you have to do is ask a different person.

In this case of alcohol returns (meaning it left the store) the FES is correct and the co-manager is breaking the law. That said I've seen people find ways around it including my boss just switching out the bottles and not doing anything to record it. I'm not crazy like that.

I came to the conclusion awhile back that, if any of us on here ever died, Kroger would demand to see the death certificate or else they would fire you for not showing up to work.

I work at Kroger. Every time I walk out the door people think they're in the Walking Dead.
At our store if you wear an apron or a smock over the shirt, then it doesn't matter if you wear the regular polo shirt or the t-shirt. Anyway, they're not allowed to write you up for something without giving you a verbal warning first.

Not necessarily. The steps of progressive discipline are a guideline but are not written in stone. I did write ups with no verbal warning before and they stood when grieved. But even that is dpendent upon the situation. Here, a verbal warning should have been given. But don't make blanket statements about what should happen in all situations.

If kroger wants to waste money to make us look trashy, they will definately write you up if you don't play along.
Well our store doesn't have to waste money to make us as courtesy clerks look trashy. I have asked for a second shirt to change in to when coming off the parking lot but apparently as a part-timer I do not get that luxury. So instead in the 5-10 minutes I try to scramble for after coming off the 'lot, once I am back bagging for customers the back of my shirt looks like I walked through our floral department during spray time. Oh well. Like I have written before, just let the customers complain. I usually don't smell that good either. Don't get me wrong, I wear deodorant, but the fabric of those shirts does not take to sweat that well. Guess since the customers are put through so quick they barely notice or don't notice at all. Sure, give me an extra hat, but don't give me a clean shirt I can wear while on the floor. Whatever, Kroger! As long as you are saving money in your billion-dollar company and keeping overhead balanced.

Here's more creative for you. The Kroger Company became sentient in 2005 and since then has been working to syphon the souls through bio-energy of its employees and once it reaches what it feels is a maximum level it will explode out in a gigantic supernova-like explosion and take over the planet. Every store will become a Kroger. No one will escape, no living thing will survive. It will be like the Wall-E movie only without the cool robots. Well maybe by that point there will be a robot aisle but you can bet that they won't be on sale. At least not during regular business hours.
