Written up for no reason?

Last night I was the midnight cashier and was closing with my manager, my last order was in the payment of a check. I took my till up to the office to put it away so I know for a fact the check was in my till. This morning I walk into work and  my manager is flat out screaming at me in the office that I stole my last translation money and is going to write me up. Is she serious? She even saw me take my till up that night, is it best that I let it go and just take the strike or should I fight them on this?

Ask that the cameras be rolled back and have her prove her statement. get the union rep right now. You can get fired for this stuff. You can't cash a check made out to Kroger anyway.... what would be the point to stealing it?

Exactly. Manager must've been on crack. Wait a sec

You need to go on offense.  Get the union involved.  Since it was a check, unless you accidentally ran it as cash the system would show you were short in checks, not cash.

We've had cashiers who handed checks back to customers because of prior work experience.

That's exactly what I told her! But no it's her way or the highway. At this point if she gets me fired I could really care less, better off getting a new job anyways.

What they said, fight this one.

Not only can you be fired, but being accused of theft of that scale can result in charges being pressed against you.

Fight the write up with everything you got. When they discover you're in the right, if say "I thank you for DISMISSING my write up and I accept YOUR APPOLOGY."

More important than getting $20 knocked off OP's already slim check, a theft conviction is like plague in retail. and while all of us would literally kill to get out of retail, it's a lot of people's only option outside of custodial employment or contraband.

First thing I'd do is rob a Kroger to fund my drug empire!

They don't write people up for stealing.
