I have called in maybe 4 times in the last 7 months. I had a fever and diahreaa and I called 8 hours before my shift. The manager demanded I got a dr note for this. I don't have insurance and can't afford it. Do I really have to get a note of am I going to lose my job?
They can only make you bring a dr.'s note if you're off three days or more.
Not necessarily; that may be division-specific. Generally, not having a note simply makes an absence unexcused, provided you still called out for each shift.

I would take a picture with a digital camera of the thermometer. ......and of the diarrhea. Print out both. You will never be asked for a doctor's excuse again.

FrontEndSlave, you're seriously disgusting. Nobody wants to see a picture of diarrhea.

His manager does, apparently.

Danielle, I suggest you learn a little thing called "humor" and possibly look up "sarcasm." Or maybe have someone else read my response and see if they laugh or not.

I was refering to the Louisville division. The handbook says if you're absent three consecutive days and don't have a doctor's note or it's not waived by management, then it's considered an automatic quit.

Oh, ok, so that would be the policy applicable to OP. Sorry, I'm just so used to people responding to things quoting policies or laws that are very state or contract specific like they're universal.Damn tho, 3 consecutive callouts will get you fired? I thought local 1995 was bad with 3 NCNS's in a row being considered a voluntary quit.
