So we had a guy quit, a different one shoot himself (on accident surprisingly enough) and another that is just lazy, well being short handed we needed help, our front end took this as their opening to pawn off somebody they wanted to fire...
basically what I heard was that she worked in produce and actually cut fruit but was stupid, lazy, sloppy and slow, so produce gave her to front end, the manager never changed her status from produce clerk to front end so instead of firing her for being stupid, lazy, sloppy and slow they just gave her back... What the heck!?
if that wasn't bad enough they had her cut extra fruit for the holiday so she cut too much... It's insane! We have 5 bread crates full of fruit... We didn't need as much as she did but whatever I guess my job is a little easier now, but i go in to see my cutting board dirty, all the fruit and no note to explain it all... when our manager called to make sure we caught her and said "please don't cut anymore fruit" I was the lucky one to tell her that she had to help the rest of produce, her response was "I don't know what to do" I told her "talk to the other girl she'll show you" her response was the same... Omg how stupid, I explained it 3 times and pointed the other girl out and ran, I wasted 5 minutes telling her the same thing... Now we're short handed and have an even bigger idiot that can't do crap, this is going to be so much fun, even better my manager doesn't want to fire her, he just hopes she'll quit...
One of our co's told me today that if it was only up to him, she'd be gone already...but my bakery manager asked him to give her another chance. He went along with it. And now they're running out of time before the 90 day probation is up...i expect a call sometime this week.
So she's lazy but cut too much fruit........interesting.....
Probably spent the whole 8 hour shift cutting fruit. Normal would probably be an hour or two. Should have sliced the whole department in 4 hours so.....

Actually she only did some watermelon slices and some big bowls, I think a few corn but she did maybe half as much as I would in that time frame and she had more hours to do it than I do.
From what I heard she is lazy, I've dealt with her before I got the job while she was front end, yeah she is lazy up there, she is rude to customers and is sloppy, now we have her, but I keep my mouth shut and I do as I'm told. If my manager tells me to "help" her then that's what I'll do but other than that I just do my job and annoyingly enough fix her mistakes. she didn't wrap the slices good so before I put the out I had to unwrap then rewrap them all... It would make sense if our wrapper was still broken and if she's never cut fruit before BUT our wrapper is works perfect now and she has cut fruit before so... I still think she's an idiot and I do hope she quits or they have reason to fire her soon.
This is why fe and produce have a problem. Whenever one of them has a lazy employee, they get sent to the other department as 'punishment' when they should have just been written up or fired in the first place. Not putting out enough corn? Time for you to become a cashier. Not meeting ELMS? Time for you to go back to produce. If we threw out the bad apples then maybe produce and front end could improve.
I agree fe and produce seem to just figure it's easier to exchange employees instead of firing, my boss is too nice sometimes so I doubt it'll happen anytime soon.
FrontEndSlave... He shot himself in the armpit, still trying to figure that one out myself...
We have some in our department that are stupid and slow as well, but in our Deli that is what Kroger hires now days. We just hired another person not long ago
and she complains a lot about stuff, but I think they going to see about letting her go soon.

This is kind of why deli is bad too. You don't have anywhere to ship your employees off to. The meat department sure as hell isn't that stupid and the bakery is usually made up of employees with serious seniority. So in deli if someone sucks, it's just a waiting game to see if they will do 3 NCNS's, get written up enough times, or just become frustrated with the fact that they have to work for money that they quit. I think 40% of CA's for day employees go to deli in my store.
We're going to have to play that waiting game now since TODAY was the 90 day cutoff for a certain someone's probation period.
One of our co's wanted to get rid of her sooner but our dept. manager wanted to talk to her first. Now... I think we're going to be stuck with her unless management actually is willing to write her up. Crap.
