Yesterday, one of our new hires got punched in the face by a customer. The poor girl is a minor and had nothing to do with the situation. The white trash woman who punched her had been cleaning her baby in the bathroom sink. A different cashier saw her and reported the woman to our newest co-manager. Mr. Idiot (as I'll call him) told the new cashier to prop open the bathroom entrance. She did so, not knowing what was going on. Mr. Idiot walked up to the entrance and told the woman she couldn't bathe her baby in the sink. He told her to leave and not come back. Well, the woman left the bathroom, walked over to the girl who opened the door, and punched her in the face. The cops were called and she was arrested. The girls parents are pressing charges and they might sue Mr. Idiot for getting her involved. (He is also being investigated on sexual harassment accusations.)
A completely different cashier posted about the incident on Facebook and was written up for it. (Somebody in the store tattled.) Her boyfriend was also written up after the store manager asked an employee to look at his Facebook page and discovered that he had also talked about it (invasion of privacy.)
Anyway, just wanted to share that awesome story with you guys.
I wish I had a manager like Mr. Idiot. My managers are too timid to kick out people that pose an explicit danger to the safety or health of the other customers. One guy came in drinking malt liquor and all the manager had to say was, "How can I help you?" Really? I don't think any mystery shopper or Kroger executive is testing you. You do have the ability to kick out customers who are drunk as ****.
None of our managers takes any **** from customers. Cashiers too. We have a security guard and are never afraid to call him/her up. Police and other emergency services too - they're frequent visitors. Drunks, belligerent loitering homeless, overdoses in the bathrooms, shouters, people who make threats, thieves and wannabe-thieves. It's an aspect of my store I like a lot: because it means there are times and situations when the customer is not always right and the store recognizes and respects that.

Except in this case these people aren't exactly customers. Customers, people who actually pay money for the goods your selling, are angels to mgmt. Loiterers are Satan's offspring. And I think we can all agree that people who just walk around the store wasted are very undesirable.
Yeah, but even if they do pay for things and become customers technically, management doesn't treat them like angels if they're also giving us any significant crap.
If I was a female, I'd knock that woman flat on her ass. I'd make DAMN sure my termination was worth it.
Some guy shoved me when I was a courtesy doing lot service. I shoved that guy back and he fell on his ass. Hell with no hands on policy. In my opinion you have a right to defend yourself from an unprovoked attack. And if the other person get hurt?? Oh well.

That's how I feel. If Kroger doesn't let me defend myself then I'm going to make damn sure that they pay for my medical bills and give me a workman's comp check so big that it renders our store profit-less.

I wish police were frequent visitors to OUR store. HERE, the "Fire Lane" is okay to park in if there is no fire and "No Parking" is merely a suggestion. Also the "Stop" signs in our parking lot can also be interpreted as "Drive Straight Through".
We had a schizophrenic guy that came in EVERYDAY to use our phones to yell and scream at the person on the phone and then after they hung up on him he would yell and scream at employees and customers.
It took management a YEAR to kick him out. A YEAR !! Managers and co-managers are FACKING DIPSH!TS . That was the girl's first mistake; listening to a FACKING DIPSH!T .
