Is there a way we can stop this from being deducted from our check? Being a broke college kid isn't fun, and I don't get many house to begin with.

Have you signed up for it before? If so, then talk to your co-managers or your HR and tell them to stop deducting it.

If you didn't give your consent, then I'm sure that what they're doing is illegal in most states. They are required to go around the store and ask employees to give to UW. Confront them about it.

Agreed. They must ASK first. They CANNOT just take it upon themselves to sign you up to donate. Ask them how you go about getting taken off the donation roster

OP may very well have signed up the last time they came around asking for it, in which case they may be s.o.l. til the next sign up period.

This.

Remember, you have the option to give a ONE TIME donation OR per paycheck.

Does the deduction show on your paystub weekly if donating per check?

United Way sucks to pull out of if you are donating each paycheck. I did this once before at another job (that paid a lot more). They would not let me loose, I was actually contracted to donate for a year!

I would have made something up like financial hardship. EVEN if the job paid more, I would have called financial hardship. They don't need to know any different
