produce interview

I'm just applied for a produce position and am wondering what kind of questions might be asked and what some key points fro produce might be its for Fred Meyer if that makes a difference but I'm pretty sure the key retailing and other such programs are universal between the stores

They're going to ask generic interview questions:

"What was your last job like?" (If you had one)

"What school do/did you go to?"

"What are your future goals"

If you want this job, try to put a customer spin into any situational questions like, "What would you do if I called you in on an off day?" If you actually care about getting the job, you'll respond with something robotic like, "In order to attain the OSAT goal of 80%, I will surrender my priorities to make the customer my priority."

Remember, though, that Kroger WILL pull a background check and will conduct a drug test. So if you've done anything in the past few years that might raise a red flag, be the first one to bring it up.

Are you already working for the company or are you new?

Basically they are going to do what lord cart said.  They generally wont hire folks for produce who have no grocery background.  Produce clerks don't have to cashier at Fred Meyer (grocery clerks do) and there are always a ton of grocery clerks who apply for produce openings for that reason(same pay scale).  Produce is all about presentation, rotation, and keeping things full.

I'd say you've got a better than average chance.  Talk about how you can rotate, keep things full and level.  Talk about how you haven't forgot about customer service.  Go to the interview dressed well and clean shaved.  Don't look like a grungy freight thrower who has a bad attitude.  Play up how you would love to work regular hours.  Good luck!
