Vacation- taken away hours?

I am growing very concerned.. hopefully I can sort this out.

The first year I got 24 hrs of vacation, I actually just had 16 remaining and I used them for California a few weeks ago. After my 2nd anniversary working for fred meyer, I saw that I have now 72 hrs of vacation total. Is that normal to give 72 hrs of vacation yearly? And now every time I look, it says "time taken" and says I used time and two days ago it said I had 52 hrs remaining and I checked today and now I only have 42.

What in the world is going on? I don't want to confront my manager at the moment (she's weird and sort of rude) but what could be going on? Can they just take hours away just because??

Talk to your union rep.

I would be suprised if wherever you are getting your numbers from is accurate.

The vacation time depends on your location and contract.

Ask your union steward how vacation time and personal days are accumulated.

Then, ask whoever is in charge of payroll to explain how all your time is being used.

If you do not have a payroll person, then it is the managers job to answer these questions for you.

Your most recent paystub should show how many hours of vacation you've been paid for so far this year.

Go to the HR manager first and tell him/her that you lost vacation time. They'll probably find out why faster than any union rep.
