Front End Supervisor Assistant?

So on my schedule for like two days this next week I have been put into the position of Front End Supervisor Assistant (I can't remember the exact wording but it was along those lines), and absolutely no one in my store that was on tonight when I stopped in to ask knew what it was. I have not been cross-trained for anything besides Cashier, and I have no idea what this is/what it entails.

Is this some glamorously titled position that is exactly the same thing as I'm doing with some adjustments, or is it a legitimately different position that I will have no clue what I'm doing?

It means you're the next CEO of Kroger.

Run don't walk to your store manager and ask what is expected of you to fill this position you have no training for.........Best of luck to you and hope for your sake all goes well for you.

Sometimes they just need to use the hours, and schedule you for something that you won't end up doing. This has happened to me, but I just did normal cashier work anyway.

lol, Yah.  I saw that my day grocery manager is scheduled for "grocery training" one day this week.  He's only been in retail for the last 45+ years!

I wonder if they are cooking the books and borrowing hours like you said.  Although, I did see a "computer training needed to be done asap" memo.

You may be getting trained to cover the front end when the supervisor goes on breaks/lunch.

Don't do it.  Never take on more responsibility, especially something where you're in charge, unless you're being paid more for it.

I always have to have a chuckle when I hear front end supervisor things.   For 25 cent an hour raise all of a sudden you are in charge.   What exactly is the incentive again? lol

25 cents? Many divisions, like mine, get nothing.

Ditto. The only logical reason for accepting a FES position is if you want to become a front end lead, ACSM, or CSM, or just move up the company in general. If Kroger is just a second job or just for beer money, then cashier is probably the best position.
