Do what you can do.  Don't worry about what everyone else is doing.  It is not your job to make sure the work is getting done, it is the department managers job.  It is the department managers job to make the team work well together.  There is always going to be one or two people in a department that can't work at a fast pace and everyone else has to pick up their slack.  There is also going to be one or two people on a crew that think they are doing all the work!  When in actuality, they are doing 100% of what they are paid to do and the other person is doing 30% of what they are paid to do.

Give them compliments when they actually do something right/fast. Management never gives positive reinforcement, so most people burn out quickly.

 It's Kroger.
the only positive reinforcement you get are those silly cards that have a coupon for $1 off...shining star, I believe it's called?
And even then they are so random or pre-planned that they are basically worthless.

If you are lucky you get the occasional management, be it Floor Supervisor, Manager or whatever that tells you 'thanks' or 'good job'.
But that luck is about as lucky as the spin of a roulette wheel --- and just as unpredictable.

It is rare to ever get compliments from management. At this point the less i have to talk/deal with them the better. The only compliments i have gotten were from the person who trained me and the grocery manager ( at least he has treated me like a person and knows i work hard.)
