confusenono Kroger 466 lost our pay checks and it will be this Friday before we get them.they can give you a cash advance if you choose.i don't work for a cash advance ,I work for my whole paycheck.i called corporate and every single person hung up on me because I was upset. How would they feel if they did not make any money because we went on strike. They would be very upset also.

Direct Deposit is the best way to go!. No worry about late/lost checks and sometimes during holidays (depending on the days the holiday falls on you can get get paid a day earlier)

So... What you're saying is that, yes they messed up with your checks, but you were the one who refused their perfectly good option of a pay advance and then whined to anybody who would listen about the horror of not being paid.

Geezus, dude, grow up.

They would have given you every cent they owed you. Plus, a pay advance is interest free. You are only a victim of your own choices at this point.

Yes I could have gotten a pay advance at a 20 percent interest to cover taxes.when taxes is not 20 percent in any state dummy.a pay advance does not cover my bills you jerk.

By the way it should be up to the worker to decide wheather he or she wants direct deposit not company.if they don't send pay checks out to the ones that wants a paper check, they should not put direct deposit either.

You were waiting for one check to cove your bills?  Talk about living pay check to lay check!  This would not have been a problem if you had direct deposit, although I've had direct deposit and had my employer make a mistake, no pay day, no offer of a pay advance, had to wait for a paper check to be mailed to my house (Over a week later by the time they cut the check, out if in the mail, and got to my house).

...but like I said, that's life!

IMO they should've waived the advance fee if it was their fault.  Then again you'd have your money if you had direct deposit.

MOST employers pay through direct deposit these days the employees don't even get an option.

Why are you against direct deposit?

The only legit argument I could've see for being against direct deposit is that some have made bad decisions with a bank account in the past and can no longer get a bank account.  But these days they have all these pre paid "credit" cards on TV and in the stores, you can link your direct deposit up to one of these cards.

Well think of it this way, most companies pay bi-weekly. Kroger is really nice to pay you every week. If you want money as you earn it, then go be a waiter and have fun making an unreliable income.

Sweetie, it's Kroger.
They would make money if you died.
I am pretty sure they are legally in your will somewhere.
And they would demand a death certificate or they would suspend you for not showing up for work.
This company makes thousands per day but those of us on the lower part of the ladder who have to do the grunt work never reap a single reward for it.
Kroger would laugh at a strike. They would fire those who tried and take their pool of applications, within a matter of two to three weeks would have replaced them.
This is a soul-less company that cares only for the dollar and not the worker. Remember that and you will feel better. Well...not much. But at least you will have that sense of apathy and frustration that everyone seems to share.

Are you sure they charge a fee for pay advances? Afaik they're used for payroll errors, for which the company would have no right to charge a fee. Even if your division does charge a fee, such a major error would have pretty much demanded they waive the fee if you'd only asked instead of getting pissy.

The use of direct deposit is most certainly the employee's choice. Whatever payroll error prevented paper checks from being sent out obviously had no effect on direct deposit, nor should it have. Your saying "I didn't get my paycheck, so neither should those who have direct deposit" is utterly childish.

I agree 100%. just because paychecks were lost, does NOT mean direct deposit users must wait an extra week as well. That's just laughable. if someone were to state "Kroger lost my paycheck and now I have to wait a week, and you shouldwait as well," I would just laugh in their face.
