Paycheck short AGAIN
Permalink

I cannot even begin on how much this has messed me up financially all month. I've had to continuously borrow money to pay bills to wait on money I was supposed to get be put on my next check. I do tags sunday and tuesday nights and work u-scan saturday nights. I sign the time sheet for tags and clock in and out for every saturday shift. I've even started circling my in and out times on the sheet because they try to tell me I'm not clocking in and out.

It makes no sense. Why would I not clock in/out with this being a continuous problem. I'm missing a whole shifts pay and this is getting old. We just lost a person this week and honestly tag nights they're about to be SOL. I'm going to Amazon. Same hours. More pay.

This is ridiculous

Sounds like your payroll person isn't doing their job properly. I would bring this to the attention of management and ask to see a printed copy of your ring history & sign in sheet for the time that you have missed. If they are unwilling, or dilly dally around it, go to the union with the evidence(or even without and they will force the store to do it)

That's unacceptable.

That being said, is it possible for you to get someone who works nights to override you when you do tags? That's what I always do for the tag people when they come in.

I've tried talking to management multiple times. They just tell me to write the missing time in the comm log thing and that advanced pay has to be approved and what not. I get the run around every time I try to get to the root of the problem. But the union thing is a good idea. thank you

They did that to me a couple of times. Saying the missing money will be there and time and time again it wasn't. So finally I got fed up. Bring as they shorted be about 4-5 hours, I took it upon myself to stay an hour or two over a day until I got the money back. (only on 4 hour days though) I did not one thing during that extra hour but sit on my ass. The way I see it, I asked numerous times for it to be fixed and it wasn't. So therefore I'll take what is owed to me.

LOL I've wanted to leave after a shift and then come back and clock out whenever I felt like it so many times

That can get you in deep trouble. be careful when you do things like that.

Yep, that can and will get you terminated on the spot for time theft.   No warning/writeups/suspensions.    If you're not being paid in the future, go straight to the union if you feel your management will not take care of it.  Don't risk your job.

Frustrated.....just a quick note....never trust the time clock and the people who post your hours for payroll.........it is a good rule of thumb to check your daily hours on the time clock after you have finished your day and make sure you get the time you are suppose to get.....and at the end of your work week make sure your time make sure you on the same page with what you worked.....if not and you have checked your time daily.....before they post your payroll on sunday morning make sure they, the time posters, know what your correct time is.....not hard to do for a correct paycheck.

One of two things is happening here, neither of which makes sense. Either:

A) You're punching the clock and being restricted, which shouldn't be happening if the schedule is written competently. In this case, your punch attempts should be on the BAC report, so they'd have no excuse to not be paying out your time. This option ends up not being your fault.

or

B) You're for some reason not punching the clock (whether or not you think you'll be restricted) and just writing your time down. In this case, your T&A person may very well be specifically not paying out your time to try to get you to use the clock, or they may have been trained to not pay out time that doesn't have at least an attempted punch in the computer, regardless of whether it's on the comm log. This situation may end up being your fault, at least partly.

Agreed. While it was their error and you are only taking what is owed, Kroger will not see it that way. They will see it as theft.

And even if you work beyond your scheduled shift, that's unauthorized scheduling and they WILL NOT see it that way, EVEN if you were working the entire time. Best bet? Don't take what's owed, you can and WILL be term'd (I've seen it happen before) instead, talk to payroll, management, and then union if nothing is done to correct it.
