Our store has a (I'm assuming Kroger-approved, since it has its own PLU code) double produce guarantee: If you're unsatisfied with the condition of your produce, you can return it for double your money back. The idea behind it is nice, I've certainly bought produce that was moldy on day one and such, but I can't help but feel it's being abused by a handful of our shoppers, who buy a ginormous load of produce (or expensive items like berries), find something bad with it, bring the whole thing back, and get twice their money back. It's literally free money, and they've done this repeatedly. Is there a policy in play here? Should store managers be notified? (I believe our FE manager knows, but lord knows she's too egoistic to care)
We don't have that policy here that's for sure. Our region is a little too, um, prone to abusers for that lol. I would definitely let management know. How they want to proceed with situations like that is up to them and their superiors. I'm sure every store has abusers in various forms. We have several and it's simply not worth the time/negative publicity to do anything about them compared to what they are actually doing. For example, there's a couple of people that come in the store literally 5-10 minutes before it's about to close and get a shopping basket to shop for at least 30+ minutes. It's the same people every time, but in the end management just lets them do that and allows the overtime for the closing cashiers(we're lucky all of ours don't mind staying over). The loss of business would hurt more than the time paid.
