They have to honor your availability, right? Our front end manager just put up a notice saying that all students will be considered to have open availability until January.

We're not a Christmas destination type store, you wouldn't need all of us on demand if you'd replace the 3 people who have quit in the last 2 weeks.

Also, non students have days blocked so I fail to see why mine should not be honored. I put in my adjusted availability, opening up the days I had blocked, but kept my blocked hours. I am not working past 11 any damn day. It is damn near impossible to get a ride if it's too nasty to ride my bike and since our registers close at 11, customers are frigging TOXIC after and I will not invite that negativity into my life.

Yeah, you'd have to consult your contract. But most of the time, no you can't be scheduled outside your previously set availability. If you can confirm that's the case, I'd just not show up as you can't be disciplined. But then again, I am massively passive aggressive, so...

Well they have me scheduled until 11:30 instead of 11. So I could come in 30 minutes early and still get my 8 hours or just get 7.5 and walk out the door when the night person shows up. I mean I'll be out at 11 either way.

Also! Has anyone noticed their availability on greatpeople being changed? I've worked 2:30 to 11 almost every day since April minus 2. So I went to change it now that the semester is over (still at 11pm, but every day) and it was set with 2:30 as the earliest I could come in! That happened in the spring too, when I worked 3 to 11:30 until I said enough and cut it to 11. No wonder they didn't schedule me any other shifts.

I am not going back to self-checkout every day. I did that from Labor Day 2013 to the first week of April 2014 and it made me hate my job so much. During the fall, I also had to do overnights 2 nights a week and 5 nights when the regular person went on vacation (I also did that in July).

To me, only the fuel center is worse than self-checkout. No one made you use it, technologically challenged person! Go the f away

I've seen dept heads change availabilities in the system like that.  They shouldn't be doing it.

I was told that no, availability outside school does not have to be respected unless we were hired with those restrictions. Because people's lives don't change?

I don't want to work past 11pm and the schedule maker painted it as a fairness issue, but I was only unavailable two days this fall, and worked on precious Wednesday every week. I don't want to work past 11 because I hate the negativity of that time and I hate it. But it's also really really hard to get a ride when everyone else gets off at 11. And it's gonna be below freezing by 11 soon, too dangerous to ride my bike you know!

So she said she could try to get me rides and I still said no because she won't follow up on that and no, don't give them an inch.
