kroger ads played in the store

I have to laugh then shake my head when i head the advertisment talk about working in kroger. "flexible hours"/paid vacations.....then you hear the word "career" when they tell you where to apply online. This is a job but very few can make this a career!

My favorite says "when you cash a check at money services you get your money right away."
No kidding? Does Walmart make you wait a day or two?

I also like how they say, "If you like shopping here then you'll love working here." Ya, because that's the same.

The ad that always had me cracking up was the Western Union ad. "Your sister in Alaska need a new pair of boots!" Always sounded like BOOBS.

that's false info there... there is no 'flexible hrs' until you have been there ages and get that all important 'seniority', a bald face lie it is!

Sure there is. Only want to work 9-5 hours? Well great because you'll get 8 hours a week. That's flexible enough isn't it? :)

There's an annoying jingle ad that plays in the ATL stores it's for some kind of Kroger-Gladiator birthday thing.

I agree the "now hiring" ads are misleading.  The signage we had recently was promoting how much "Kroger" gives to charity as if that'll lure people to want to work for Kroger. No, it's the pretty much customers giving money and the cashiers under threat if they don't push it.

We have lots of threats up front. Lose your Coke bottle during a charity push? Write up. Forget a survey? Write up. Go backs not done? Write up (the supervisor, not the person tasked). Sweeps not done? Write up (the supervisor, not the person tasked).  The only incentives are threats of job loss.  There's no carrot.

Does this create an environment that people want to work in? HELL NO.  And management wonders why we're not friendly enough on the surveys and OSAT is way down.

You can have my Front End Manager if you want.
Sounds like her type of environment.
She has no problem being aggressive to employees and being a hard-ass to everyone.
