I just want to frickin' QUIT!!

Just a few hours ago, I was literally slammed by a dept head and my FE supervisor. This is what happened. Dept head comes up to te FE where I am checking and asks where so and so is. I tell her jokingly 'I mailed him to China.' She asks again an I give te same response. You CAN tell it was a joke because EVEN the co-manager replied "I put the stamps on myself." dept head walks off and I think nothing more. So I leave for lunch and dept head said I was "hella rude" and that was uncalled for. I explained it was a joke. He then said it wasn't funny. So I walk off. But that's not the best part. I go to the bathroom and I hear her telling my FE supervisor what happened. I wait until dept head leaves to get out of the stall. FE supervisor catches me and literally bitches me out. she wouldn't even let me explain. I was upset and near tears. She said 'crying won't help. and I do not want to have this discussion and leaves. My partner calls me on my lunch and I explain the situation and she wants to take their heads off. My partner is butch and you don't want her pissed. I tell her it's fine and get back to work. Now both FE and dept head just apologized And try to joke. I shrug it off and tell them I need to get back to work and that its not the time to make jokes.

now I have an "attitude" that needs adjusting. I'm ready to just quit no

Well there's your problem. Jokes are funny the first time around, but if the person asks you a second time, is it that hard to give a proper answer? If you didn't know the answer, just say "idk" and move on

When you were asked the second time where so and so was, you should have just given  a straight answer.

OP here. i understand, however, we ALWAYS joked with each other, (me, dept head, and FE supervisor) always saying we mailed so and so's to parts unknown. So coming at me like they did was UNCALLED for on THEIR part. Next time they tTy and joke, they'll get not even a smile out of me. I'll be polite, but cool towards them.

and guess what? I recently heard FE Supervisor needs to see if she can switch a shift.

Guess what? They haven't found anyone...

guess what? from what I heard she wants to ask me

gueas what? The answer is....NO!! FIND SOMEONE ELSE!!!

The people you work with just need to lighten up and gain a sense of humor.

also, "partner." You make it sound like she's a cowgirl and not your girlfriend.

I had a problem with my old co manager about the way i speak to people at times. I don't mean any harm by it but things i say have a tenancy to come out as me being a sarcastic *******, at times. They just have to deal with it while i tried to work on it.

"of course i was joking! no one here makes enough money to mail someone to anywhere! especially CHINA, YOU CRAZY PERSON!"

There is no such thing as being allowed to joke around or have a genuine sense of humor anymore. I can tell you that 2 people got written up for "having fun" with the whole "say hi to everyone" thing. They turned it into a game (your turn...my turn). Manager felt it was insubordination. Written up for THAT yet a clerk makes repeatedly racists comments and is allowed to keep her job working with the same people she harassed. This company has some seriously screwed up values and I am embarrassed to say (when once I was proud) that I am a part of this company. no

I keep filling out apps at Costcos and crossing my fingers.

Get your certifications first while you're waiting. You'd stand out more. Many of those who apply do not have some of the certifications that Costco will require you to have within 6 months of hiring.

My suggestion to the OP is not to joke as much anymore. EVEN if they try to joke. You may be the"******* jerk" to them when you refuse to joke around, but as long as you continue doing what you are supposed to be doing, you can NOT get into ANY trouble. Continue being polite, and maybe do a 'friendly courtesy' chuckle to keep things civil but try not to joke around as much.

Maybe this time they had something important they needed to speak with this person about, some kind of minor emergency.  ou tYou wouldn't tell them where they were.  I would be mad too if I asked you two times.  You just never know when someone is going to be in a bad mood or if there is really an emergency.

Forgive my ignorance but what kind of certifications do you refer?

Well since Costco is essentially a shopping warehouse, I'd guess forklift certifications would fit in. By the way getting into Costco is harder than getting into an ivy league school.

It varies from one job posting to another, but I do know that at the very least, you have to be trained and certified in being able to clean up certain hazardous spills that may occur (no, covering a spill with SpillMagic doesn't count). Yes, they [Costco] will pay for your training, but you'd be more desirable if you have the training already.

Where would I go to get this training independently?
