Automatic Donations (taken without permission)

Back in 2013, I asked that Kroger stop taking the automatic weekly United Way donations out of my check, due to the tax holiday not being renewed that had been in place for a number of years... making my paycheck much smaller.  Now, I notice that they are taking it out again ($1 a week).  I have neither been asked for permission, nor have I filled out any paperwork to allow them to do this.  Is it now legal for a company to automatically take charitible donations out of someone's paycheck without his/her permission?  If so, when did this happen?

I wouldn't think it would be legal without permission.. To me that would be stealing from you....

It is NOT legal. Talk to your store manager.

Tell them they owe you xxx amount of money that they took for donations WITHOUT YOUR permission, say that you'll be looking for the reimbursement next pay check.

I talked to my associate manager about it today, and she emailed the main office to have them take care of the situation and to have the donation taken off. All I had to do was sign a paper that she typed up stating that I did not want the automatic donations taken out of my check, and she faxed it over. Apparently, this has happened to other people as well because I read the email printout that was sitting on the table stating so.
