Minimum wage raise, no hourly wage adjustment
Permalink

Last year when the minimum wage went up 15 cents I got a 15 cents raise starting from January 2014.

This year the minimum wage went up another 15 cents, but I did not get a raise.

I'm at $8.30 now and I'm a certified pharmacy tech, shouldn't I be getting $8.45 starting from January 2015? Just wondering, 15 cents is not much, BUT I have to work 1044 hours for a 5 cent raise :(

You're right... about the federal minimum wage standard.

Individual states however can (and many do) set higher minimum wage laws. January 2015 witnessed a number of states opting to raise minimum wage.

All I can think of is the reason you saw an increase in January 2014 was to bring you up to the new minimum wage figure in your state. This year, perhaps you were already making the (new) minimum wage figure or are above it, and that's why you didn't see an increase. If you're making more than the minimum wage figure set by your state, even after the minimum wage was recently increased, you won't see an increase.

They don't always boost people up over minimum wage when it goes up.  They don't here.  Techs don't get paid well in retail, try to get on at a hospital or clinic.  Those places pay better.

Some techs get shafted. The ones here in Ohio actually get paid pretty well for working in a Kroger store.
