distribution from warehouse
Permalink

soups on,winter time bananza. I order my own isle. Continually receive large amounts of stock. I've been told our store gets more distribution because our sales are 3x's as much as most stores in our area. All I know to do is flat the soup once it goes off sell. My thaughts are the warehouse has to much on hand and is dumping there excess stock on large volume stores, but then isn't that were excess stock is suppose to be at the warehouse. It's counter productive. Would be different if we had a replinisher, but he's more like a utility clerk. That on top of unedited forcasts. I'm just a clerk most of the time I just laff at it because I'm not allowed to do any thing else.

I hate seeing product hit the markdown shelf, because that effects our profit margin for the month and in turn effects our hrs. Lol they'll just give us another trail or to put all our goodies in.

Nah.. I doubt it has anything to do with sales. The warehouse just doesn't want to be stuck with stuff they normally don't sell. Take a look at what you're receiving. Should you know notice more of an item you know doesn't sell, even if it's on sale.

Lean Cuisine is notorious for this and they love shoving this down our throats.

They sent us 2 lean cuisine distro pallets for the $1.88 sale.   We're a relatively lower volume store (510k average w/o fuel)  I've had to mark down about 30 cases already because they never sold.   I hate LC in general though, a real pain to keep on display seeing as they can't stand up by themselves.

But Kroger is moving towards more and more distros every year to reduce stress on the warehouse, as that's the main cause of issues around the holidays with scratches and such.   If they can target the highest moving items with big sales, it puts the stress on the store and not on the DC.

Yeah, I had to move my entire LC endcap to the clean up endcap when the sale was over(it was 6/10.00$ for us). There is only three kinds out of all the varieties the people buy. I can't stand those up either, and the stouffers the same way. I just stack them flat ala Diary level blocking style. It's getting tough keeping the freezer from being filled up with this slow moving distro ****.

I block mine flat like that usually the last week of the sale when I'm trying to sell through the last of the door.   When I set it, it's full and it's no problem to stand it up.  I always seem to get more sales when people can have a better visual of the product.

Now we have the HealthyChoice which are also pretty annoying for the same reason.   I'm trying to keep that full though as they're selling really well.

No new major distros for us for the next 2 weeks at least.   It'll give me time to clean up on some things.   We got a partial pallet of Totinos, but those will be used to build a door on Tuesday.

I have a personal rule that anything I don't think I can move in a week I'll mark down.  It helps keep the freezer clean and reduces time needed for everything else.    I have an entire markdown door that always has product in it to move.   I sold through the last of my LC markdowns this weekend and now I'm just working on those dang prestopasta's(also a distro) that won't move even when marked down.   Also, whenever I have a lot of stuff that I need to move fast, I'll make a post to the local facebook city page about it, and it'll usually get sold through quick when people know about it.
