I used to buy my snacks and desserts from Kroger. The 24-count cookies, pie, angel food cake, and even the bollilo rolls.
Unfortunately, I'll have to take my business to Tom Thumb instead. Everything got more expensive. The 24-count cookies had been reduced to 16, yet still costs $3.99 when I used to by the 24-count that they'd regularly have on sale for $2.50. The pudding cake costs 7 bucks compared to $5 at Tom Thumb. The pies not only have gone up as well, but they look sloppy even for a mass-produced... thing.
Meanwhile, Tom Thumb sells 50-count cookies for $5, 14" pies for $6-$9, and large cornbread for only $3.
Then there's the bollilo rolls... they used to be great. Now they're either dry and stale, or chewy and... stale. They also shrunk by 1/3, which I'm not happy about. At least it's not as small as Walmart's.
Call me a picky shopper, but I miss the good ol' days (three years ago or so).

In my division, the cookies went to 16 count a couple years ago. Personally, I think the pudding cakes are worth the $6.99 price. They're often on sale and if you're lucky, you can get one that's going out of date for half off. The looks of the pies and the bolillo rolls is dependent upon who's baking them. Believe it or not, there are some people in the bakery department who don't know how to bake. They think if the oven timer goes off, it must be done. No, the timer is there as a reminder so you don't forget and leave something in the oven. We often end up with pies and turnovers that are still pale white. They look horrible. When it comes to bolillos, they're still the same amount of dough. If they're too small, it's because the baker isn't leaving them in the proofer long enough to rise properly.
My manager is one of the bakery department people who doesn't know how to bake.
Granted, I don't know how to either, but that's because in 3 years no one has trained me. I've asked. I've had a couple times people with less seniority have been trained (once, it was someone who quit a couple weeks later, the union steward heard all about that one, thought it was BS, still nothing was done) but I still don't know how.
The cookies here used to be 18 in a pack when i started, now they're 16 in a pack for 3.99. We also have gourmet cookies, 6 in a pack, also for 3.99. NO one ever buys them, if we do happen to make them, they all get marked down. The reason why? You can buy 3 gourmet cookies at Walmart for 99 cents.

Wow, 3 cookies for a dollar? That's a really good deal. I know that Frito Lay makes those grandma cookies (2 in a pack) and sells them for $0.99.

I don't think those gourmet cookies are good at all. They may use premium ingredients: macadamia nuts, white chocolate, etc. but the dough itself leaves a lot to be desired. The cookies that are really good are the soft top cookies. The apple cinnamon, banana chocolate chip, and chocolate chocolate chip are the best
Roll quality is entirely the fault of the bakery at the store you buy them at. At my store, they're pretty damn good still, but our bakery for the most part knows what they;re doing.
Prices, on the other hand, that's a Kroger corporate issue. Probably they're just going up, because all food prices across the board are going up and will continue to rise.
Yeah, let's complain about the prices going up so the company can lower our pay! Wait, what?
Don't support a company who's prices are so low that their employees are on food stamps.
Don't know what barren land you live in, but here Tom Thumb pays MORE than Kroger. Actually, if I remember, walmart will start off their people at a higher pay ($7.50) than the local Kroger here for someone new.
