Requested 2 days off...

I requested for 2 days off in March, one Thursday and one Saturday, and I requested OVER a MONTH AGO.

It still says "pending" on e-schedule though.

How long does it take for these to go through?

I've been with Kroger for over a year, but these 2 days (really 3, because I have approved unavailability on Fridays) off are really important. To the point where if my request gets denied, I still won't show up to work, even if I get fired for it.

Chill out they will show up as approved the week the schedule is posted.

It's really ridiculous that we can't find out if our days are approved until the schedule comes out. How can anyone make plans and pay for stuff in advance? Too much unnecessary anxiety.

Anyway, OP, talk to your manager about it. It's possible that they don't have any problems with those days, but just haven't had time to mess with it (or don't even know it's there). It may ease your mind.

The way hours are anymore, most department heads barely have enough time to write a schedule.

I'm sure they don't have time to check everyones request for a month or two out.

Whatever happened talking to your department head or manager.

Approving requests that far ahead could create more problems than its worth. Say you put in a request a month ahead and they approve it right away. Then say 6 other, more senior ppl request off the same day the last day they can input a request for that week. Your mgr can't accommodate that many ppl gone, so they go back and deny your request. So why do them ahead and of time if they might not even be finalized.

That is something most people don't understand.
A request is just that;a request.

I realize it is a request.

I also realize this is a terrible job, and the event I am going to is 110% related to my future career, of which I am paying tens of thousands of dollars in tuition in.

I wonder which I should prioritize more?

If it is such a terrible job, just quit already.

Your days off will likely be approved without a problem. It seems like you are already looking for trouble where none exist. Why aren't you discussing this with your department head. Just because e-schedule exist is no reason to avoid personal communication.

My best advice to you, baby man, is to go ahead and quit. Kroger doesn't need any more spoiled little brats like you. Go out and get that useless degree. Pile up that tuition debt. Move back in with your parents. Then come crawling back to Kroger, begging for a job.

 "Useless degree".

Sure, this engineering degree will be useless. Thanks!
