I'am so done with working at Kroger. I honestly don't feel comfortable working there anymore but I don't know how to tell my manager that I'm putting my 2 weeks notice. Do I have to give a explanation? I honestly haven't looked for another job, but I just can't work there anymore. I hate my department coworkers, I can't stand them. I know I can handle myself without a job for a while, but I don't know what to tell my manager. Please help.

You don't have to give an explanation, but you never want to burn a bridge unnecessarily. If they ask, just tell them the honest truth. If it's your coworkers, why don't you apply for a transfer to another store? Are there none close?

It's not really a good idea to leave yourself without a job, even if you're going to be "okay" for awhile, because you never know what unexpected expenses could come up or if you'll be able to find another one soon enough. I second the transfer notion, because different stores can have a very different environment due to management styles/people working there. Yeah, you still have to put up with the backwards Kroger policies and approaches to doing things, but that can be tolerable if you're surrounded by (mostly) people that you like working with.

If you truly just want to quit, then all you need to do is hand a co-manager a note in an envelope outlining when your last day is going to be and it doesn't hurt to give a copy to your department head, too, so that everyone that "needs" to know is on the same page.

I agree, especially since mgmt often likes to just hoard that kind of important info.

Buy yourself a microphone. Then at work one day, drop it, and then leave without saying a word.
