Night Premium
Permalink

I've been working overnight full time for kroger for at least 5 years. On my last pay stub it showed that I got paid a night preimum for just 1 hour for the week and for the whole year so far. This whole time I just assumed and took for granted that I was getting paid It. So, I went on HR express and combed through my pay stubs as far back as it would let me (Oct 2013) and discovered I haven't been receiving it since AT LEAST then. The 'year to date' payments starts to show up on my checks in 2013 ,so, some where in that year they stopped paying my night premium. What the hell?!?

Talk to your union rep.  Have you had a new contract?  Union might have given it up.

Well I tried accessing their website to view the contract but they need to approve you before you can access it even though I pay my union dues. It's been two weeks and they still haven't approved me. Beside, I doubt that is the case since I did get the 1 hour of night premium on my last check and everbody else that I asked that works overnight gets paid it

I just got off the phone with the union rep and you are right. They did do away with the night premium in exchange for a higher wage. But, it's still odd that i still got paid an hour of night premium on my last check. Oh well
