Does anyone out there have a management team that can say anything positive to the associates. Every negative seems noticed, but never ever do we hear a thanks for all you do. doesn't seem right that we have to be the most friendliest associates on the planet while being beat down and demoralized behind the scenes.
It has to be a part of management training. Our grocery coordinator always ends her e-mails with that exact statement. Same with calling failures "opportunities".
It's usually said during the huddles I attend. At some point, a member of management will usually say something positive about everyone's efforts. Admittedly though, with more holes than considered acceptable, a dropping OSAT, bad Customer Connection shops and a hiring crisis, there's really not much opportunity to bring up appreciative thoughts and positive remarks. Things aren't pretty in Kroger stores right now, but management, at least at my store, tries to show some degree of appreciation and lighten the mood with jokes or smiles here and there. Our store manager, for example, always tells us to, "get out there and have some fun," when he attends the huddle. Right now, it's just a bad situation for employees and management...

Demoralized behind the scenes? That never happens at our store, it's right there in front of employees and customers. It would take to much time to take you to the office, at the register is how they do it. They gave me my yearly evaluation right at the cash register while I was waiting on customers. I asked for more time, they said no, fill it out right now. Never sat me down and talked to me. They've even tried to give me write ups to sign at the register, I just laughed and said no thanks.
