This is my first job as an overnight stocker. I've been on the job for around 2 weeks and was cheaply trained. Anywho no one EVER told me how to use the cardboard baler compactor thing . I asked an older lady but she never answered my question she just took the cardboard out of my hand literally moved (almost pushed) me out of the way and did it her self and walked off. I tried doing it myself last night but I could not get the gate to come down. Do I just pull down the gate then push the black button? Or do I push start first? Is there a certain way to get the gate to come down?Everone on the night crew is BEYOND mean so I never asked anyone else how to do it. Although I have a 4.0 in college I feel beyond stupid = / HELP ME OUT
lol, you have got to be kidding. But, you have come to the right place for help.
Put cardboard in machine.
On the gate, there is a handle in the center. Pull the handle out and then pull the gate down. Press start.
On the newer machine we have, you have to push the gate up a little to get the handle to unlatch. The older machine we have is worn in that all we have to do is pull handle out.
Always ask your night supervisor if you have a question. If he doesn't train you or answer questions, then he sux.
Plus, you need to learn to make a bail for when the bailer gets full. It is not hard to do, they made fun of me for a long time because one time I didn't tie the bailing wire down good enough and lost all of the paper on the floor and I had to redo everything. Just don't make that mistake.

lol. I hate when we get bad tie wire. I changed a bale once using 4 wires. By the time I parked the bale outside, 2 of the 4 had snapped. I am glad I didn't have to move it again.
There are videos on youtube to give general idea on how to change the bale. I will always help new people a few times until they are confident they can do it on their own.

On the two balers I've dealt with, when you push the start button, you have to hold in in for a moment before the machine will start it's cycle. Also make sure the ring on the outside of the button is turned to the "Down" position.

Are you gay or something? "Anywho" who talks like that?
Pull the handle out toward you and pull the gate down, then push to button.
Also, make sure there's no cardboard sticking out the opening of the baler when you pull the gate down. If there's anything that keeps the gate from coming down all the way, the baler won't run. Sometimes if a piece of cardboard keeps popping the gate open, you'll have to hold it down with your hand until the machine gets past the obstruction.

I work in a 2 baler store.
The old style baler has the ring you choose for up and down. If you hold the button, it will stop at the bottom of the stroke.
The new style baler has a separate switch for up and down. Once the tonnage pressure reaches a certain point, then the baler will stop at a at the bottom of the stroke and light up a "change now" light. The ram will only move(up or down) if you hold the button down until the bale gets changed. To stop it sooner, you have to press the emergency stop button.
My record is that I changed three bales in a 9 hour shift.
