So? Produce has a camera in their prep room, and stockers are watched by a camera in the receiving area. What makes "dehil" any special?

Ha.  I would be more concerned if the cameras had speakers.  That would un nerve me to have someone start speaking to me.

To be safe, the cameras probably do have microphones.  The technology is so cheap and the digital storage is also easily affordable. Why go cheap in the first place?

A general rule of thumb is: Do not do or say anything in public that you do not want your momma to hear or see.  And, definitely do not post it on the internet.  The internet is infinite and forever.

Everyone knows the Deli is where all the best drama comes from.  Kroger could make there own yutube account and make billions just from that video.

As far as im aware and i could be wrong, but its been my experienced knowledge that the only room in the entire store that uses audio recording is the accounting office. Also the audio recording can only be heard by loss prevention. I've seen enough video to have an idea on how this works. I could be wrong entirely though. Different divisions and even districts within a division do different things.

You need to find out if you live in a one party or two party state.  It would be illegal in most cases to record conversations without the parties consent.  One party only the person doing the recording needs to give consent.  (I know, sounds crazy but it's true.  I am going to record this conversation and it's ok by me!)  Two party you would have to ask permission of all parties involved.  That's hard to do with customers and employees coming and going.  I doubt they would grant permission.

If they all record audio.. then management and everyone must have one hell of a time with me! Then again that's why I don't think we have audio recording.. I don't know how many people have talked bad about the boss and if there was recording he'd obviously find out. Other than that I talk to myself quite a bit in the Fuel Center. Or sing. Or dance.. Whatever makes cleaning and doing my job easier.

Retail doesn't have audio recorders.

It would be an acoustical nightmare to single out and capture individual voices, from the same source and distance the cameras are mounted, without using one of those horn-sized amplifiers the FBI has..........But we have threatened acting out twauts that their threats were 'on tape' and would be used in court. -------Always shuts em up, too!

It is illegal to record your conversations without your consent. So even if they decided to break that law and record your conversations they couldn't use any of it against you because that would be illegal.

That's not entirely true.  Check the laws in your state.

True!  Tongues are for legally licking frozen lampposts.  I saw it on TV so I know it's true.

Questionably abusive, maybe.
Potentially unethical, perhaps.
Slightly shady, somewhat.

During a 2003 strike and lockout, Ralphs Grocery Co. (Kroger) allegedly hired hundreds of workers under fake names and violated laws involving employee benefits and record-keeping for the Social Security Administration and Internal Revenue Service. The grocery store chain has agreed to pay $70 million in restitution and fines including $50 million to Ralphs employees who were locked out during the labor dispute and for the illegal hiring of some locked out employees during the strike. About 19,000 Ralphs workers were kept from their jobs at Southern California stores.

this is one of many things they have done kroger had no problem flying people in from Arizona and other states with their fake socials and so on.

Honesty, integrity, respect.

read what he said he was showing the person who said its illegal to record someone as if that would stop a company that breaks the law quite often

Audio recording hah!! Even if each camera costed less than a nickel to implement it you should all know kroger is too cheap to invest in that nonsense. Hell, I'd bet you 90% of all stores across all chains have only about 50% of the cameras actually working. If it doesn't help expedient checkouts then they aren't putting money into it. :D
