hey guys i have only been working at kroger for about a month. later this summer i would like to take a 2 week trip and was wondering if you think i'd be allowed to go. i am going to go ahead and out it on e-scheduler but just wanted to see what y'all thought
I mean, it depends on how badly you want to keep your job. If you're new, you really don't want to be taking extended periods off from work until you've proven yourself and had the company decide to bring you on, outside of your probationary period. Sometimes they'll be ok with such things, but it really doesn't look good if you've only been there a month and already want two weeks worth of time off.
That said, every situation is different. Talk to your manager about it and see what they have to say and how they feel about it. If it's going to be an issue, and you really need/want the job, I'd recommend rescheduling your vacation for another time. If on the other hand, they happen to be ok with it, just make sure you're kicking ass before you leave, and when you get back so that they know they made the right decision in keeping you.

yeah. by then i will have been there 3 months and everyone tells me im doing a good job so far so i will just try to keep it up. if they fire me then they will have to fire me. missing this trip is not really an option :) haha
Before I got hired in, my family and I had a vacation booked. I had no issues with getting the week off. I made sure to put the request in as soon as I was able to get on the website. I also told the person that hired me about it before officially being hired. As long as you already told them about it before being hired it shouldn't be a problem.
Go ahead. See if I give a damn. Hell, take a couple at months, Kroger will hold your job for you.
This sounds like sarcasm. No need to be a pompous ass. I've only been working for a few months and I asked the schedule maker about it. They said it was perfectly fine as long as I put it in a request online. OP will probably be fine so long as s/he does the same.

Yes, OP here, i asked the schedule maker and she said it was fine. Only two weeks and there are plenty of other people to work that time. Besides I have not missed a day or work and they all say I am doing a good job.
It's been my experience that the summer months are extremely difficult to get any time off at all. You have all the folks with seniority taking their vacation time and those with personal days taking up the rest. As a newer employee myself, I've been working six day weeks for about four months now in order to cover the senior vacations. Nearly all of my time off requests have been denied and forget about getting any weekends off.
