Since the creation of the third and fourth hiring tiers at Kroger it has become blatantly obvious that they wish to create a tension filled work place where turn over is increased.  Low paid employers with little ability to advance to a higher rate and not enough hours to make a living are more likely to resent higher paid employees who hired in before the creation of the new tiers.

This also makes it more likely they will be able to create enough stress through lack of sufficient help, animosity among co workers, increased demands and unpredictable scheduling to make some of the long term employees want out.

Here in Ann Arbor, Michigan Kroger treats their workers very poorly and the stress in the stores is so bad the customers comment about it. Demands on the few workers they have are always increasing beyond what anyone can or would do. The manager is absolute *******, treats people like slaves and has zero understanding of people. I think he is an alcoholic and has family problems, just his demeanor and his temperament lead me to believe this.

Kroger is over pricing its products and underpaying its people. It is funny that they now complain no one is applying to work there. And when they do hire people they don't stay any more than a few weeks. I guess that should wake someone up to how they are running the stores, but they clearly do not care about the employees at all.

DO NOT WORK FOR KROGER !!!!

I find it extremely pathetic how Kroger "thanks" its employees for its "great people", yet they always treat them like dog **** and always demanding more from them and won't even give their employees a raise like how Walmart and Target did. At least those two companies decided to step it up just a bit. They keep spending money on stupid **** like new shirts.

Kroger, do us a favor and get your **** together.

They do give raises, you just have to be patient and wait until you top out. Maybe you should stop whining because you can't have everything right away.

True.  Stay 6 or so years and you will get decent money.  But you have to basically do 2 people's job now.   So those who want to stay and put up with the crap can have all the patience they want if they like that sort of thing.
