How do union raises work? (Local 227)

I'm in the Louisville division (Local 227), my first year anniversary was just last month about the same time as the new contract was passed. Up to this point I had no idea that there were even union raises, I just thought every six months I get 10 cents added to my rate. When do you get the union raises (as a part time grocery clerk) and how much are they usually for?

Your union raises are the ONLY raises.

.25 cents per year. it is separate from your scheduled progression raise. Old part time cap was $11. when the raise hits you will make .25 more per hour and new part time cap is 11.25. 11.50 next year, 11.75 in 2017, $12 in 2018. Again these rates do not count as your progression raise so you can technically get three raises a year.

Get a copy of your Union handbook and read for yourself.  I am not sure if yours works the same as our contract.

For our contract, you have to work so many hours(1352 hours I think) in order to progress to the next level.

There should be a copy of your Union handbook in the breakroom on a bulletin board.  If not, search online or ask the shop steward for a copy.  That would also be the person to explain how your pay raises work.
