Singled Out

So, for the past month+ it seems like I'm constantly singled out by FE management.  Made an example of, if you will.  Here's some of what it:

They will loudly call my name out and tell me to "go to the Smile Zone" when I have a line of people I'm checking out.  And when I do go to the Smile Zone, I end up getting LESS customer traffic because they think I'm just standing around and not the person running the cashier (I'll even ask them if they're ready to check out and they'll respond with "yes" and go to the line next to mine instead).  But they won't call out any of the OTHER cashiers, even those who pointedly refuse to go to the smile zone.

The other Cashiers know that I ask customers no less than 3 times for their Kroger Plus Cards.  Every customer (unless they're already shoving the card in my face).  But FE management has come up to me specifically, complaining that they've had to "fix" customer receipts from people in my line because I never asked them.  When I look at the customer in question, it's not a person that went through my line and when I ask to see the receipt (cos it has the name of the cashier at the top), I'm told that "I don't need to worry about that".

I've overheard the FE manager complain to the store manager that I "never clean up my area" when I do.  I wipe down my belt/register area, make sure my bag carousel is full and prepped, that handbaskets/carts are put away and not blocking my lane.  I also try to make sure that I have extra receipt/coupon paper, have extra pens and plus cards, and track down the one of two counterfeit pens that are shared among the cashiers.

They also complain that I'm slow at checking out customers but are constantly sending me people from the big lanes to "ease their load".  I'm in Express most of my work days and those lanes are not able to handle a customer with 2 full carts.

It's gotten to the point that I go into anxiety attacks whenever I hear they're in work that day or when I see them doing rounds of the FE.  Is this harassment?  Are they doing it because they hope I'll quit (something I wonder about because they started cutting my hours around the same time)?

Oh I'd get some witnesses if it were me.  I wish you could politely ask her if you both could view the security footage?  You would like to see what she is seeing.  As far as those receipts with no Kroger card?  As the girl at customer service to track how many customers complain about you.  Bet there aren't any.  You need to talk with the manager right after you contact your union rep.  Union first, manager second.  I'd file a harassment grievance asap.

What is it will all this harassment at Kroger lately?  I left months ago but I can't believe it's going on so much and so consistently all across the US.

I think OP is referring to where you stand and smile and greet customers and ask if they're ready to check out. For our FE that is behind the registers near one of our aisles.

This.  It's typically the area where the magazines are kept, that's just at the start of the lane for a register.  Our store calls it a Smile Zone, because you're supposed to stand there and smile at the customers until one approaches because they're ready to check out.  As a customer, I always found it creepy and tended to go to a different lane which is why I understand why (and don't feel offended) when customers pass me over to go to another checker.
