So I earned a vacation in november. I was not able to take that vacation due to lack of help and holidays coming up. My manager at the time calls human resource and gets an ok that in january i could take the vacation and it would be carried over so in january i took a vacation. Its now june and i am taking my normal vacations and little did i know they are claiming i had already use one so i argue my point but in bridgeport mi at my kroger store where i work you are told nothing but lies so i am fed up and am ready to quit which i find its not fair since they promised me it would not affect me. All i want to say is never trust your managers or shall you trust in anyone who works for the company for you will find out this company dont care about anyone.

Find a copy of your contract book.  It should say whether or not vacations can be carried over into January.  Many stores allow this because the fiscal year for Kroger in many divisions, if not all, starts in February.  There are 13 four week periods a year.  Period one starts around the first week of February.  Period thirteen starts in January.

Also, even if say you did already take this year's vacation, they still owe you the pay for last year's vacation.

if it was your one year anniversary in november you did not have a vacation until january of the following year. so you did not lose one.

all employees hired after september 1 are not entitled to a vacation until following year

per my contract ufcw 951 lansing michigan

 not everyone has that.

i was hired in dec and after my 1 year i asked about my vacation and they said they needed me to take it before January was up. so i had "2" vacations this year.

How many weeks vacation do you have?  If it's only one week, you took it.  You won't earn another week until November.  I'm not understanding what your "normal" vacation is if it's in June.  How many weeks vacation to you have?  You don't get to start in November and get two weeks vacation in 8 months.

Under my contract, if you work for the company for 1 year, you get 1 week of vacation. But, say you were hired on November 1st. After your 1st anniversary, you get your week of vacation. But you have to take it after the 1st of November, but before the end of the fiscal year.

So if OP had their 1 year anniversary date in November 2014, they should have had until the end of January 2015 to use the vacation. Then they should still have their one for 2015 as well.

Ok.  So get hired in November!  Work one year, take a week off in January then another week after that.  Then quit.  You've got a free weeks vacation and you didn't have to work the whole year for it. (Regardless of whether they pay you for it or not.)

The Local 1000 contract expressly prohibits black-out dates, yet an entire crew was just told Halloween through Valentine's Day is "blacked out".

No go.

We're trapped like rats . . . although the mice that run loose in our store seem freer than the humans who work there.

File a grievance.  That's almost half a year you can't take a vacation.  How in the hell do you go snow skiing lol?  I'd also look into that hour lunch if that's still in the contract lol!  Tell them you'll be taking that from now on and to adjust your schedule accordingly.

 

I swear I think the only thing that's going to stop Kroger and the Union is a nice class action lawsuit.  Breach of union contract.  Rampant harassment in violation of Kroger company policy.  And on and on and on.
