Is this an office/service desk register??? If so, I must say Louisville Division gave us and had for some time, good keyboards that are labeled well. I'm off today, but tomorrow morning I may be able to help more since I open accounting.

The one's I've learnt so far are (at least for my store):

Coinstar
- press 1
- press signon
- press clear to ignore card prompt
- enter amount on coinstar receipt
- press miscellaneous
- run through the check machine
- give change

Price override
- enter new price
- press price override
- scan/input item code
- select reason (raincheck, customer service, make it right, etc)

Suspend order
- press suspend
- press total
- press clear
- press override
- scan manager override (typically on their keys, so you do need to ask for this)
- receipt with barcode should print out, keep until customer comes back

Ok, refund, it is very top key to the extreme left. Just scan their card and refund, either scan product or enter the manual open code number.

Suspend an order, requires override. That key lays in the middle of extreme left hand side of keyboard. You will just suspend, total and ask for override.

Western union pay out should be plu 6511. Just prompts you for the payout amount.

The rest I will need to check on... Mainly Western Union pay bill and just regular check free bills..note: these are two different bill payments. It is easy fixed though in the morning accounting if it has been put in wrong.

Look around for a plu chart for service desk... That's what you really need in case keys are not labeled. Front end manager should me able to get one online and bring you a copy. Keep it!!! Or it will come up missing!!! Tells all plu codes you need.

There should be a Money Services guide and a Cashier Communication Book at the service desk with that info but I know that's not always the case.

gift certificates for partial payment are run as 6/, the amount and check tender

western union should have a key in the current enterprise keyboard layout for customer care, they're on the right edge.  note this is for person to person money transfer and not bill pay.  that can be fixed in accounting but it's annoying and if there's a bill pay fee promotion if you don't use the right PLU customers won't get their discounts when you scan their shopper's card.

some divisions have checkfree or another bill pay in addition to western union.

Thank you for the help. I was told as of 2010 there was a master guide with codes needed for customer service and cashiers. They stopped giving cashiers this info.  New hires etc were making mistakes with using these right. Thus front end supervisors or customer service clerks are called when issues accur.  The problem arises when moved into u scan, customer care. Then front end I do not have all the info I think I need to assist many problems the new cashiers might have when they call me to help. So in the end I look stupid to the cashier and even more important the customer. Why is it so hard to get this info posted somewhere?  We cannot be expected just to know or catch watching someone who has been doing this for years solve issues then saying so that's how you do it. My mind doesn't work that fast.
