why are we always shorthanded in the deli

I can't take this anymore. I can't take only having 2 of us in the deli. I can't take my one coworker running off every time she can to do other things besides wait on counter because she thinks she's some kind of department head when she's not. I can't take being put on production and then not being able to do what I'm supposed to because I have to keep waiting on customers the entire day. I'm so sick of this awful job.

That sucks. Talk to management?

My dept is always short handed too. Never enough hours, and yet they still expect us to get everything done.

Well if you haven't quit yet go ahead and do so. Because that is what they want and they don't care if you do quit, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, or the next person, etc.

Sounds like what happened at the store I was at. Deli was disgustingly short-staffed for the amount of stuff that needs to be done.

Our deli seems to be overstaffed. I swear by 7 am there are 5-6 people already working in the deli (same goes for front end), while my dept will have 4-5 people (if we're lucky) the WHOLE DAMN DAY!  Sounds like the deli eployees need to step it up a bit (in my store), I'm so sick of their complaints.  THe dept manager sucks so much dick to get what s/he wants.

In our case, it was where there were more people in the morning, and then 2 closers. I worked both the morning shift once in a while, and closing and I always wondered what made it so hard for mornings to get all their stuff done instead of dropping it on the closers.

Before 11am every morning, it was a paradise for me: hardly any customers, and the ones who did come in that early were too old to be overly picky.
