What a waste of money (but then again, it's what Kroger does... waste money). All these aprons, hats, promotional material all over the store, hiring musicians, advertising, etc... all for something that will be over before next week is done, so... roughly a two-week promotion... and what kind of return on all this spending? If it's anything like the Taste of Mexico, which went on for much longer, then they'll either be in the hole or show insignificant profit from it.
Has anyone even had any customers that were remotely interested/excited in this thing? I haven't come across any.

We're suppose to have different types of Italian bread and garlic bread scattered throughout the store. We fill it one day and mark it down the next. Nobody is buying any of the bakery stuff. We have almond flavored cakes and muffins. How did almond flavored stuff get to be Italian? We did have cannoli cakes. They were good but way too expensive: $9.99 for a 6" 2-layer cake.

Lots of waste, just like with the Taste of Mexico. At the end of every day or almost every day, the bakery would drop off big boxes (the boxes used for a dozen or around a dozen of donuts) crammed full of churros in the break room. Now more waste from this dumb Taste of Italy promotion is taking up space on the discount racks, either because customers don't want the products or they're too expensive. Do these boneheads that come up with these idiotic ideas ever learn? Doesn't look that way. Sometimes I think this company purposely wastes money so it will have an excuse not to start employees at a higher pay scale and provide better raises.

Those people have to justify their job, so they're spitting out whatever they come up with. You know that the powers at be, aren't the brightest, so they'll take any ole idea and run with it
My store is still doing the Taste of Italy (I think it ends next week or something). All we got were the pocket-less aprons (annoying) and hats. I wore the apron because I had to do samples but I refused to wear that stupid hat. What does that hat have to do with Italy? I'll tell you.. nothing. So nope, didn't wear it.
I did sell a lot of bread and dipping oil though. Also sold off some of those Cannoli cakes because they were half off for 3 dollars here lol.
I do think this is all a waste of money. Some people liked a couple of the salads from the deli and wondered if we would be selling them for a while. Of course we aren't because for some reason we like to order all this crap to sell for a month and then never sell it again (at least not until next year anyway). Stupid waste of money. We should at least promote it and then continue to sell it for more than a month..
After less than one week of all this hype over savoring world flavor, all that customers care about is getting in and out, much less two weeks. The only reason they even notice these extra displays is when they make it even more of a hassle to navigate through the store, which I read about constantly as it is from non-event period survey comments.
