IHOP or Waffle House?

We're all familiar with IHOP, but one breakfast/diner chain called "Waffle House" has a pretty good footing throughout the South.

And now I'd like to ask, for those that have eaten at one or both of these establishments, which do you prefer, and why? It could be anything from just the name or to the way they make their hash browns. You're also more than welcome to name your personal favorite breakfast joint.

While there's plenty of Waffle Houses here where I am, I've never been to one. So for now, I'll have to say IHOP. Their pancake quality has gone down over the years, but I'm a fan of that chicken fried steak and hash browns of theirs. A very decent meal for only $8. Oh and iced coffee refills. Can't really beat that.

Thats like choosing between McNastys and Booger King----both are gross, but one trends for hotter female staff than the other. Tho that doesn't help you at dinner time.

SHONEYS is my set. Its a southern chain too, and the place ROCKS.

Taco Cabana.  I miss it.  Don't have anything like it here in Michigan.

I liked it better when it was called International House of Pancakes.  I hate how everything is abbreviated or turned into an acronym now.  I still call KFC Kentucky Fried Chicken.

I like it better when it's supposed to be called DineEquity. I hate how everything is labeled generically now. I still call Olive Garden Darden Restaurants.

Remember when you were young and all those different syrups at IHOP were so good and now they taste soooooo bad?  Our Waffle House does a good business when the bars close.

What better way to soak up all that recently consumed alcohol? A reoccurring joke that I hear about Waffle House is the best way to enjoy the food there is when you're wasted and can't actually taste the food, lol. I've never been in one so I don't know how the food is, but just going by what I've heard, I'm not in any hurry to make it a priority!

I enjoyed IHOP in the past, but over the years, the prices there have gone up while the quality of food has gone down. At least, that seems to be the case at the two that I've gone to in the past. I'm in no hurry to return either. Honestly, I'll take McDonald's breakfast over IHOP's nowadays. Breakfast is the best thing about McDonald's, in my opinion. Terribly unhealthy? You bet... but once or twice month, eh, why not. The Deluxe Breakfast is always a nice occasional treat and while I know some people call them greasy messes, but the McGriddle is still one of the tastiest breakfast sandwiches I've ever had.

The McGriddle WITH REAL EGGS (not the square, yellow thing) is the best breakfast item I've had there!

I wish McGriddle's would be part of the all day breakfast menu :(
