Is there even such a thing, or is it just a myth I'm hearing? Can you actually negotiate yourself a better pay with getting a promotion to a different department, or is it all just done on a flat scale of when you start and how many hours you work in that position?
The only wage negotiations are when you enter store management, which is a separate entity from unionized workers. There is an opportunity to start at a higher wage if you have related experience. Each contract is different but ours allows for up to 36 months experience pay(basically bumping you up to where you would be after 3 years of employment) if you have the experience on file. As far as getting promotions, that depends on your contract as well. Some are seniority based, some are up to store management.
