My 60 day probation period was over yesterday 11/21/15, I didn't work on 11/21/15 but i did tonight 11/22/15 and when i got there the store manager called me up to his office and said "I'm gonna make this easy either you sign the 15 day extension or you're terminated." So I signed because i didn't want to be fired, my question is has anyone ever been on extended probation and if my probation period was over on 11/21/15 how can they force me to extend it on 11/22/15?
I was also told by another employee that since they've been taking union dues from my check the last 6 weeks and have already taken the full initiation fee that i'm apart of the union. So is there any point in getting the union involved or since i'm on extended probation would it be pointless to get them involved?
Here is the thing did you ask for your Shop Steward to be there when he told you this,It's your right to ask for a steward anytime your called into the managers office if the manager refuses to provide a shop steward you have a legal right to tell them that I cannot discuss this subject without my union representative being there and you can ask for the shop steward by name too if you have 2 stewards in store again if they refuse you can legally leave the discussion without being fired if they try you can beat anything that through at you.I have did it with a manager he got so pissed that I did try to leave and he told me he would fire me for leaving so I let him know we will do the ca under protest without the steward I requested and when the union came in the next day his butt got fried And the CA got tossed out Again he was pissed and I laughed in his face.
But that's why I asked this is because if I was you I would have played it smart and let the steward be there as my witness what the management was trying to do.But I think they have no right to do a 15 day extension at all.Best get the union involved just to check what they can and cannot do it depends on contract. But I know my contact I know they cannot do that.
Call the union asap. I had a write up once that I refused to sign, my union rep went to the store and went into the managers office and made him tear it up and throw it away lol! It was all a lie that's why I didn't sign it. Still, I didn't want that in my file.
I think because OP signed it, the union can't do anything about it. However, I have never heard anyone getting a probation extended unless they REALLY messed up. It's kinda impossible. If you were getting union dues taken out, then yeah, I probably wouldn't have signed either even if it meant losing the job (temporarily) because that's where it'd come into play. Did they say why it was getting extended?
I called in sick the day before and that made my department manager angry because he had to stay late, so he told the store manager to extend my probation 15 more days.

It sounds to me like you and your department manager have had run ins before. If you were a model employee up to that point, then a good department manager wouldn't have asked to have your probation extended. If you were a model employee and the department manager extended your probation out of spite, then you need to get out of that department and away from that department manager.
