Write up/Termination over Illness?

So, I was sick the week of Jan 24 to 30th, missing half of my scheduled work days.  I called in sick and got the required doctors note.  Week of Jan 31 to Feb 6th, I worked my scheduled days but suffered from severe bouts of vertigo/dizziness (to the point where I was sent home but still showed up the next shift day).  Saturday I was off but had to be taken to the hospital and was told if I experience the vertigo again to go immediately to my doctor.  Was scheduled for work today, but experienced vertigo before my shift started.  I called in to explain I may be running late and why, but when it worsened I called back in to inform them that I was being rushed to the doctor.  My doctor deemed me unfit for work today and the next couple of days, and I got a note from her covering it.  I call back in to work to explain to them what occurred and give notice about being unable to work my next shift as well.  The manager I was speaking to proceeded to cop a really ****ty attitude and spoke about how they need to discuss my attendance with me the next time I come in.  All of my call-ins (both these recent ones and past ones) have been excused via doctors note, so I really don't understand the need to discuss anything.  I cannot help getting sick.  I cannot help getting sick to the point I pass out.

So I'm curious as to if they have any grounds to reprimand me?  Or if this is just some petty bluff?  To be honest, I'm so done with this job I want to walk away from it.

If you want to stay at your job, maybe try and take a medical LOA so you can pursue treatment for your disorder without needing constant doctors notes.

Or maybe consider that hating to go to work might be what is making you sick. A very real possibility.
No job is worth that stress.

OP here.

@anonymous:  I am way past my probation period.

@colorado kat: I don't have a disorder.  I've just had really bad luck.  I was out initially with a sinus/respiratory infection that knocked me flat and now a virus that's affecting my stomach and sinuses (which my doctor believes to be causing the vertigo I've been experiencing).  Both of which I more than likely caught from being at work.

@DeliHound: I'm sure stress likely plays a factor, especially in recent months as we've had an entire shift in our management department.  My manager would rather people came in sick/refuse to send people home than to have to find someone else to cover their shift.  And for those of us that are sick enough that we require being out for a few days, they literally try to make the days we do work a living nightmare (refusing to give breaks on time, refusing relief for restroom, refusing to let us have water/get a drink from the fountain, overloading our checkout lanes with customers (particularly sending people to express that shouldn't be checked out in express), reprimanding us for things we had nothing to do with, etc).  Despite the physical illness, I'm honestly rather sick of all this petty behavior.

I'm just curious if my front end manager has any grounds for what they said to me about me needing a reprimand.  I follow the practices we're required to: if we have to call in, try to make sure we give enough time for them to call a replacement.  If we're out sick, to get a doctors note.

First, take care of yourself!  My daughter has had vertigo for over a year.  Started the same way yours did.  As far as Kroger, have them show you in writing where it says how many days you can miss.  If you brought a doctor's note, called in the required hours before your shift, then don't sign anything.

No. If they want to discuss this with you upstairs you need to tell them you enact your Weingarten Rights.
