Then I found out thru the grape vine that my private medical records had been spied on (I've been seeking treatment for almost a year and NEVER used my company insurance plan to pay for any of it) and since I work around fresh food, well, you can figure out the rest.
22 years in. And it all ends like this. I seriously don't know what I'm going to do, there's my child who I have custody of involved, and if I sue I could lose him out of this too.
This was in March. They ambushed me but even tho I had my shop steward with me, he was completely useless. Hands in the air, mouth hanging open.
I refused to sign, they fired me any way.
As for telling anyone about my HIV status, not a soul. I may very well die not discovering where that leak came from.
I have been directed to a couple of law firms; the ones around this town are all in bed with big business, so I expect I'll try for someone out of the area.
Not really asking for advice here, more just venting. I'm still in shock.
Oh, one last thing. I am a gay male living in a town so homo phobic they think the AIDS Quilt caused global warming. I just came out, very quietly, after my wife divorced me, and what with me having sole custody of our child I know what will happen if this information taints the courts.

This actually isn't anything to joke about, my sister died of AIDS a few years back (sorry OP, I dont mean to upset you). This is a terrible disease that nobody deserves to get.

I have to say that I know of someone who was used and abused by Kroger for years and kept ending up in the hospital until they were fired for it. Found out later they had AIDS and the company didn't want to pay out in insurance. Obviously not the issue you are having but he was a beloved employee and the store manager who fired him was practically ran out of town on a rail.
If this is real, that's really illegal. There are HIPPA violations there, plus you are protected under the ADA.
It's obviously really hard to prove, but I'd try to file a complaint with the EEOC. It might not do any good, but it won't hurt. It's also free and a lot easier than suing them on your own.
Yeah this happened to my Boyfriend Gary(not Kroger's Gary, he works at Dominos now). Anyway he got fired for having herpes all over his face and mouth. I hope this helps!
