The Social Media Disclaimer
Permalink

While certainly, as a board that doesn't share any real names, it is less useful here, I know a few people also post things from time to time on Facebook.

Sometimes, these people get fired over their postings.
I seem to remember one person suggesting their department working conditions caused them illness, and customers responding that they would no longer shop at Kroger.

-Rewriting-

As I wrote up a little thing with a link to the policy, to help prevent stuff like the above, I did some reading and found out that the old social media policy was illegitimate.
That stupid disclaimer in my signature, and how Kroger required it on every single post especially, ended up violating the NLRA.

Strictly Legal: Employers social media rules limited

So instead of a "post this disclaimer" message to avoid trouble, remember the NLRA if you ever have problems on account of social media postings.

Very good. And then your boss says "Oh....I'm not firing you for that. I'm firing you for _______"

Why not just shut the ****k up on facebook?
