Front End cleaning at night.

I wan wondering if every store is like my store? The night workers leave the front end a mess no one get's the trash. No one cleans the restroom also the trash in the can's on the sidewalk are always running over. I asked  the manager if they are  supposed trash before they leave at 11 PM. He just said it was so busy. So why don't they assign someone who only cleans and nothing but get trash and I mean only get the trash and nothing else. Is all the stores like this. What does the front end look like at other stores? They look on the camera and check if pallets are up by 7 am. Why don't they check to see if the night works got the trash.

they are suppose to have at least 2 utility front end people a day. one opening and one closing. Either the opener is not doing the trash or the closer is not. Unless its a big ass store then both of them are not doing their job.

Getting a good close is the key to having a good opening. Have a good opening and it will be easier to have a good close.

Thing is, you have to have people that care and people that are on the ball. When it comes to the front end, it's the closing supervisor's job to make sure cashiers, baggers, the self-scan attendant, customer service closer and closing utility are all performing the tasks that need to be done so that the store will be ready for the opening shifts. The opening supervisor should be maintaining that good close by expecting the morning and early afternoon people to do many of the same cleaning tasks in between customers. Everyone plays a role. It's not just utility's job.

It's not just your store. Kroger stores I've been in (and likely elsewhere at most locations) are a dirty, dusty, trashy mess. It's been that way for years and likely won't change.

Long story short: Yes, other stores are pretty screwed like you. Its not uncommon.

Basically, as long as one guy in the whole of front end is willing to bust ass in the morning to make it right, management won't care.

Utility Clerk, your store should have at least one, is a higher form of Courtesy Clerk (bagger) and his job is exactly to clean, and should not be used for other things.
In reality, he is most likely cleaning the bathrooms in the morning, getting spills, doing bathroom checks and the rest of the time is spent as a bagger, pulling carts and doing the normal courtesy clerk work.

Even if such a person is assigned to nights, trash and cleaning is the work of all courtesy clerks. If you are a bagger, offer to do it. Frankly, its easy work that nobody cares what you are doing during that time.

Basically, if you see full trash cans in the morning anywhere, somebody screwed up.
