When I was hired this summer, the managers of the store were aware I would be leaving for college in August. I'm moving into my apartment the second week of August, and I'm wondering when I should let the store know when I'll be gone, and how I should go about it? I am planning to come back to work for Christmas break and maybe next summer as well, so do I still put in the standard 2 weeks or approach it differently?

Honey? This is your mom. I know you hate when I nag you, I know you're a grown young little tad pole now, but I'll always be your loving mother, and there's a few things I want to remind you of when you start college:
*Always remember to wash under your scrotum. Your father never does and it makes me, well, a little nauseated.
*I don't care how cute your dorm mate might be, ALWAYS 'wrap that rascal', lol! No cure for the booty cootie yet, dear heart.
*If he lets you ride em cowboy, ALWAYS give the courtesy of a reach-around!
*DO. NOT. Get any peter tracks on the clean linen I packed for you, they belonged to your Aunt Heidi.

Non troll response!
Talk to your HR person about an academic leave of absence. You'll need paperwork from your school, usually the schedule is enough, and that's it. Depending on where you are, you may have to talk to your district HR people which can be a small headache or a big one.
Your HR person may not recommend a leave, there are other ways. A kid at my store doesn't work during the school year, and he's back now that it's summer, but he also came back for his spring break since he was in town. I don't know if he's on a leave or what, but your HR person will work with you!
----oh, and be sure to use a sanitary napkin when cleaning out your anus. That's a tender area and is prone to a lot of infection and seeping stink rot, especiallyb if you get too much semen/feces mixture up in there.
